Quick Guide
  • A restaurant needs power, a Vendor and connected tables. Link the tables through the Restaurant Info Panel; simply placing seating nearby does not establish that link.
  • Customers cannot be served without a Vendor. Check staff access, rest and cover, then inspect the facility’s status, usage and guest feedback.
  • These are documented setup and service checks. If the prerequisites are met but the failure persists, they are not proof that every restaurant bug has a known fix.

Identify what “not working” means

A restaurant that cannot operate, one with no customers and one with unhappy diners are different observations. Start with the selected facility and the Management > Facilities report: the official management guide lists usage, profit and status there. Then read common Guest Thoughts or an affected guest’s Info Panel to see what the service complaint actually is.

Check the documented restaurant setup

Confirm power

Make sure the restaurant receives power. Check the actual facility and utility coverage rather than assuming another nearby building proves coverage.

Confirm a Vendor is serving

The official staff guide says a shop without a Vendor cannot serve customers. Check the restaurant’s current staff situation, not just that somebody was hired earlier.

Connect the tables

Open the Restaurant Info Panel and connect the tables there. The official restaurant instructions explicitly require connected Tables.

Check staff access and rest

Staff facilities need power and paths. A tired Vendor leaves for the Staff Room; another free Vendor can cover the shop. Inspect those conditions if service stops during a break.

Check the menu and guest needs

Restaurants serve full meals and their menus can be changed. Read visitor complaints and dietary needs before assuming another table alone addresses demand.

Inspect the result

Return to the facility status and usage report and look for the specific problem changing. Retain an unresolved symptom if the documented prerequisites are already satisfied.

Tables, picnic benches and cleaning

The construction guide calls the seating object Picnic Benches and says it supports resting and eating and is needed for functional restaurants. For a restaurant, use its Info Panel to establish the table link; the object’s visual proximity is not a substitute for the documented connection step.

Guests can leave litter on tables, and Caretakers clean it unless a nearby bin is provided. Bins themselves need emptying. Check that cleaning is actually maintained rather than treating one placement as permanent cleanliness.

The official guide describes restaurants as higher-capacity meal services where guests sit and spend time eating. That is a different use pattern from a quick food or drink shop. It does not establish an optimal number of tables or guarantee that every guest will prefer a restaurant.

Use feedback to choose the next adjustment

Guest Thoughts show individual opinions and common trends. Some Passing Thoughts are not actionable; prioritise repeated service complaints over a single incidental comment. Guests with unmet needs can be unhappy even when the restaurant itself meets its construction requirements.

The Vendor can also be absent temporarily because they are resting. The staff guide allows a free Vendor to take over; this is a reason to inspect coverage, energy and the relevant Staff Room, not a rule that every restaurant must have a fixed number of spare employees.

Check the current restaurant report after a specific change. A changed profit figure is not by itself a controlled test of a fix: customer needs, staffing and running costs can vary at the same time. Use the status and the exact visible symptom to keep the conclusion narrow.

If the problem remains after setup checks

Keep the exact symptom, selected restaurant, mode, platform/version and the steps that reproduce it. This is editorial guidance for a useful report, not a claim about mandatory form fields. Frontier directs unresolved issues to its tracker and support, and its 1.0.5 note does not promise that every service defect is resolved.

Documented checks, not a universal bug fix

The official restaurant, staff, guest and management guides were checked on 19 October 2026; latest observed update context is 1.0.5. No restaurant was built or tested for this guide, and no exact staffing ratio, menu price or table count is asserted.
