Quick Guide
  • Provide a powered, path-connected Research Centre, then open the Browser’s Research tab, inspect the topic requirements and assign an available Vet or Keeper.
  • Research completion persists across the Hub. In Franchise, Conservation Credits are shared between its zoos, while Cash is not; Franchise Credits do not transfer to offline modes.
  • Conservation Projects can take Cash, staff time, animals and release groups from the current zoo. Staff assigned to field work leave temporarily, so plan around their absence.

Start and monitor research

Provide the research facility

Place a Research Centre from Facilities and give it power and path access. Research staff need an active centre.

Choose the research area

Open the Browser’s Research tab and select Species, Enrichment, Education or Disease.

Read the topic’s requirements

Inspect what the topic unlocks and its prerequisites, such as housing the relevant animal in your zoo.

Assign an available staff member

Select from Available Staff and choose the topic. Vets and Keepers can research; the specific staff and topic options are shown by the interface.

Watch actual progress

Use the Active Research alert, Research menu or assigned staff member’s Info Panel. Research can be paused if that worker is needed elsewhere.

Inspect the completion notice

The game notifies you of completed research and unlocks. Where another tier is available in the topic, the guide says the Vet continues to that next tier automatically.

Species research can require direct observation at the habitat or exhibit as well as time in the Research Centre. Some species also need release and study in a Wildlife Reserve for full research. Staff prioritise care duties such as feeding or treatment over research, so a busy animal-care role can affect the time available for it.

Know what each research area contributes

Documented research outcomes
AreaExamples of the described outcome
SpeciesEducation topics, release-group capability, fertility boosts and knowledge of Thriving requirements.
EnrichmentAdditional toy and food-based enrichment options across species.
DiseaseImproved immunity for susceptible species and help limiting outbreaks.
EducationAdditional topics for education sources.

Completed research persists across the entire Hub. That is a sharing rule for knowledge, not proof that every currency or every mode has a single common balance. Use the Planet Hub to move among accessible sites and find its shared resources.

Earn and use Conservation Credits

Conservation Credit rules in the reviewed guides
QuestionDocumented rule
What are Credits used for?Adopting animals is a documented use.
How can online and offline modes earn them?Release groups into Wildlife Reserves and quick release animals.
What extra options exist in Franchise?Animal Trading and Community Challenges.
Do Franchise zoos share Credits?Yes, within the Franchise. Cash is not shared between its zoos.
Do Credits move between Franchise and offline modes? No. These balances are separated.

The management guide says release rewards depend on attributes such as interest rating, prime age and genes. It does not supply a universal reward amount or a tested quickest-farming recipe. Read the proposed transaction or release carefully rather than projecting a fixed return onto every animal.

Plan a Conservation Project around current-zoo resources

Conservation Projects support work with partner institutions beyond the zoo. The official guide describes allocating Cash, staff time, animals and release groups. Those resources come from the current zoo, so a project can affect the operation you are still managing.

A staff member sent to a project leaves the zoo for a period of field work. Check the work you are asking that person to cover locally before allocating them. This is particularly relevant when one worker is also needed for care or research; do not count them as simultaneously available for every task.

The Planet Hub contains Conservation Project resources. Read the chosen project’s actual requested resources and progress rather than assuming all projects have the same requirements. The retained guide establishes the allocation model, but does not give a complete click-by-click project menu or fixed completion times.

Claim the documented rewards and check your next action

Projects most often reward Conservation Credits. Some institutions also provide animals or release groups; claim these through Gifts in Animal Trading. Check what the completed project actually awards before planning another site around that reward.

A useful decision sequence is: check the topic or project prerequisite, confirm the facility and staff/resource availability, begin the chosen work, then inspect the progress or completion notice. This ordering follows the documented dependencies; it is not an in-game speed test.
