Quick Guide
  • Update 1.0.5 acknowledges continuing stability and save/CC concerns; announced fixes do not establish that every crash is resolved.
  • The support checklist below is PC-specific. Console recovery procedures and the success of these suggestions have not been verified here.

Start with the actual failure context

Record whether the failure happens at launch, during a particular action, while loading a zoo or when an online feature is being used. This editorial distinction helps avoid treating unlike failures as one problem. Keep the installed platform and version alongside the symptom rather than assuming every report uses the same build.

Update 1.0.5, published 16 October 2026, announces general stability work and particular crash corrections, including an Ecosystem Brush case and a keybinding case. The same article keeps crashes/performance and save stability under active attention. It is a dated publisher statement, not proof that a specific save or machine is now fixed.

A concise official PC checklist

Frontier suggests checking minimum requirements, verifying Steam files, updating Windows and GPU drivers, testing without overlays/background capture, reviewing antivirus allow-listing, and trying fullscreen or lower graphics. These are troubleshooting suggestions, not confirmed fixes.

Keep the scope of a test clear
ActionWhat a result can establish
Change one relevant setting, then observeWhether the same symptom recurs under that condition; not automatically its cause.
Compare the exact action with a patch noteWhether the described trigger matches; not whether all related failures are resolved.
Retain an unsuccessful resultUseful context rather than a reason to claim a fix succeeded.

For the current hardware table, use the store-based requirements guide. Its recommended storage field is SSD required; do not replace that with the looser SSD wording repeated in the support article. The support article is used here for troubleshooting, rather than as the authority for a newer hardware table.

Read the current store-based PC specification table in the platform guide.

Separate online problems from general crashes

Frontier’s patch note identifies server connectivity as its own Franchise concern. It describes a username-filter issue that can appear as a server-connection error, and warns that VPN use can affect connectivity. A server error is therefore not enough by itself to conclude that graphics hardware is causing a crash.

Release-related reports also need care. The retained player discussion includes crashes and lost groups; later players reported failures even after travelling into the reserve before release. A workaround reported by one person should not be promoted to a dependable fix when the same thread contains counterexamples.

Prepare the documented PC report

Submit the in-game crash report if prompted. For unresolved PC issues, support requests DxDiag, Steam64ID, supporting documents/screenshots/footage, unusual behaviour before the crash, repeatability, the in-game situation and other recent program crashes. Use the support article’s submission route.

That checklist describes the information the publisher asks for. It does not mean a report has been submitted by this guide, that a cause has been identified or that a lost save is recoverable. Keep any outcome separate from the act of sending diagnostic information.

What remains unknown

The inspected support article is explicitly for PC. It does not establish PlayStation or Xbox recovery controls, diagnostic-file locations or reset procedures. Do not copy a PC instruction onto a console merely because the visible crash looks similar.

This guide also does not certify a recovery procedure for missing saves. Save and Conservation Credit stability remain part of the official 1.0.5 focus. A patch announcement, a successful launch or an isolated player reply cannot establish that damaged data has been restored.

Source check and testing limits

Official notes, scoped PC support text and attributed player reports were checked on 19 October 2026; the latest observed patch context is 1.0.5. No game, crash, hardware change or recovery operation was tested here.
