- Inspect a guest’s Info Panel for individual thoughts, or Management > Guests for common thoughts and trends. Match the response to the need instead of treating every comment as a fault.
- Education items need power, a path and a relevant nearby animal; configure their species and topic in the Info Panel. Talks and tours also need Educators and suitable schedules.
- Guests leave after seeing every animal, running out of time, becoming unhappy or fleeing an escaped animal. A closed Guest Spawner stops arrivals there, but departing guests can still use the nearest spawner.
Read the need before choosing the fix
A guest’s Info Panel shows the thoughts behind that visit. For a zoo-wide picture, open the Guests screen in Management and inspect the common thoughts and trends. Passing Thoughts have a separate place in the panel and can be filtered out of the management view; they are not necessarily requests you can act on.

| Need | What the guide describes | Practical check |
|---|---|---|
| Energy | Resting on benches, transport rides and some food/drink restore energy. | Are rest or transport options available where visitors travel? |
| Hunger | Food shops, vending machines and restaurants replenish it. | Can visitors reach a functioning food service? |
| Thirst | Drink shops, vending machines and restaurants replenish it. | Is a functioning drink service available? |
| Toilet | Visitors need sufficiently clean toilets. | Check availability and Caretaker cleaning. |
| Education | Boards, speakers, talks, stations and audio guides teach topics. | Check the topic and the source’s operating requirements. |

In the documented need display, a full Hunger, Thirst or Toilet bar represents the need being met, rather than maximum hunger, thirst or urgency. Read the panel’s meaning before reversing your response. For service menus, variety also matters because some guests cannot buy items with particular ingredients.

Make education sources work
Find education items
Use the Education section of the Facilities Browser. Boards, conservation boards, speakers and education stations are different ways to distribute topics.
Provide the operating conditions
Place an education source on a path, give it power and keep it near a relevant species. A decorative position far from the linked animal does not satisfy the documented proximity requirement.
Choose the species and topic
Select a board, speaker or talk point and configure its species and education topic in the Info Panel. Not every source teaches every topic.
Research missing topics
Some topics unlock through research. Check the available topics rather than placing more copies of an unconfigured item.
Review the visitor response
Return to guest education statistics and thoughts. Build a variety of relevant topics and sources rather than assuming one repeated board covers the whole zoo.

Information Centres sell audio guides, which provide education, and umbrellas for rain or snow. They need power and a Vendor. Umbrellas address the weather-related purchase described in the guide; they are not a universal solution for unhappy guests.
Add staffed talks and tours
Animal Talk Points belong on guest paths. Educators deliver their scheduled talks, while linked Animal Talk Seating can increase the audience capacity and help with congestion. A missed scheduled talk is cancelled and makes its waiting guests unhappy, so staffing and access are part of the setup.

For a guided tour, place a Tour Point from Facilities and open its Tour Manager. A tour needs start and end points plus at least one activity point between them. Configure points for an Animal Talk about a nearby assigned species or an intermission that gives guests a chance to meet their needs.

Use the Tour Manager’s rating breakdown to decide what to improve: educational variety, Educator training, guest wellbeing, layout and scenery all have documented roles. Intermissions near useful facilities can address needs; shorter travel between relevant stops addresses the layout side. These are qualitative directions, not a tested optimum route.

Investigate departures in context
| Reason | How to interpret it |
|---|---|
| Every animal has been seen | The visit can be complete; departure alone is not evidence of a bug. |
| Time has run out | Visitors do not stay indefinitely. |
| Unhappiness | Review repeated unmet needs and negative experiences. |
| Escaped-animal danger | Guests flee; address the animal situation rather than only adding services. |
Evidence: Guests - Guides - Planet Zoo 2
Particularly unhappy guests may request a ticket refund, which comes out of the zoo’s Cash. Protesters can also make nearby visitors unhappy and may prompt departures. Their documented trigger is poor animal welfare, so correcting that underlying welfare issue matters more than trying to hide the effect with extra shops.

Guest Spawners create arrivals and should connect through entrance gates where tickets are bought. The official construction guide recommends placing them near entrance gates. Closing a spawner stops new guests spawning there; departing guests still use the closest spawner, even if it is closed. Do not interpret that exit use as proof the closure failed.
Use a repeatable review loop
Choose one widespread, actionable complaint, identify its location or service, correct the relevant setup and then inspect the trend again. Maintain the balance between guest views and animal stress: an unobstructed viewing point can help a visit, while some animals need protection from constant viewing. The guide does not promise every departure can or should be prevented.
